Mental block and model block

ok I haven't taken pictures for a while... want to do set up shots like the CSI rather than the naturally occurring ones but having model trouble... bit of a mental block atm. wanted someone to go run in the rain for me today but no willing people at hand. feeling guilty I'm not going home for mothers day. My boss even offered to pay for my train ticket home if I'd work the sunday.. he loves me ! I think its my essay. Its making my head melt. Talking of which may do some ice shots... need an ice cube tray tho. will hunt in town tomorrow... how does it take for it to freeze?thats how long my pics will be...  

EARTHQUAKE!

We just experienced a mild earthquake and I nearly lost a mug as it was on the edge of my shelf. I would have been very upset if it had broken as I've had it for ages.

CSI

I have been watching way to much CSI. I took this shoot after one where a woman gets dragged out a lake. She had loads of weed stuff on her. Obviously this is in a bath. Inspiration from Bill Viola with faces underwater and Romeo and Juliet film when Juliet is in the bath at the beginning. Oh dear I watch too much TV! Annoying flash shows in second and third image but I could photoshop this if I use them as my final pieces. I'm off to bed now... exhausted from balancing on the side of a bath for 2 hours! The model is Claire Hammond by the way. Said I'd mention it as she has done so many modeling sessions for me. She's just so petite and pretty :D Thanks Claire!!! Think you should be my new theme! Bucket of water time next mate then the pool next week..... lots of thank you drinks heading your way though.... IF ANYONE ELSE FANCIES MODELING FOR ME PLEASE VOLUNTEER!!! GIVE CLAIRE A REST! :D

Went to watch Varsity last night. Blogger wasn't working so had to put it on today instead... Might start looking at ice and melting. Got a shoot later so gunna add them tonight. Want to try out faking water like James Welling... mentioned in the lecture (Thank's Jed!)

underwater frolics

I got lots of underwater images with my mates amazing camera. Started off just experimenting and trying to get the stuff I wanted to show up clear. Found it hard to take images whilst trying to hold your breath and sink to the bottom of the pool!!! My fav is the foot image. purely because of the water movements. also like the portrait image as it took so long to get the timing right.

Inspiration by the blog Hugh showed us... his name escapes me at the mo so will post again later when my brain is in gear!

 Hugh- as I did 4 images can I have 4 days off?!?!? yeah right! lol

WHAT'S THE THEME OF MY LIFE?

ok i get it now. the blog has to be about my life in a deeper way. I want it to show something that is important to me but i don't want to be too sentimental and sickly.... I've been thinking about:

Water- so many of my pics have it in. I swim in it, wash in it, I drink it and I throw my self off waterfalls in little plastic boats.

Life is a show- I sometimes feel someone if watching my life and taking notes. as though i"m ona stage somewhere but i don't know about it. Its odd..... Makes me think of the "dancing through life" song in Wicked. May think about that. Dancing through life......

Choice and Chance- How many choices do you make a day without even realising? What choices make that day good or bad? Productive or a waste of your life?

I'm going to have a ponder and post a pic a bit later. I'm going out later so may take some then... meanwhile I'm going to read next weeks text so I don't have to do it last minute and I'm gunna research for my essay... even if I don't want to.

What am i doing?!

Ok I'm a bit confused about this project now that I got a comment of "whats the project about" from hugh.... Is anyone else sure?! I just seem to be taking images of what happens in the day. not really been inspired into a project as such. unless canoeing counts. lol

boat fixing

Today we fixed the polo boats. I just realised how much of my life revolves around canoe club! It took about half an hour to get one screw out though. Which is why I chose the comic strip idea... shows how long I was sitting in the cold!!! 

I fell down a bit of the mountain sat (didn't mention earlier but I'm walking like an idiot so most people know anyway!) Legs still hurt and made the stairs to lecture HORRIBLE! Also means I can't boat tonight or tomorrow for sure so I'm sitting in my room adn working on my essay research. No where near as fun :(

Medium format polaroid

Today we had medium format workshop. looking forward to using them but maybe not for this project... not sure. We tried some polaroids so I thought I'd put them on here. Joe is in one pretending to be dracula but he stole the picture (even though I took it ) lol only winding u up Joe! the little colour one is of the still life. 

nothing exactly ground breaking but nice to play with new toys :D 

ok original picture got uploaded rather than the cropped one. I cropped it purely to change focus to the canoes and make them dominate the image more. it also removed the large areas of black top left corner and the distraction of more water in the top right

Kayaking

this was taken at BUSA slalom competition. I like the abstract effect that the light has created purely by the sun position, water reflection and aperture change that I didn't make when I changed the angle of my shots.

Wales weekend

I went to wales this weekend with the canoe club. We scrambled up Triffon mountain so I used the experience to take some landscape pictures. My favourite of these are the silhouetted foreground.
